New UAE coach 'threatened' to get tickets to Vietnam World Cup 2022
New UAE coach Jorge Luis Pinto has announced that he will defeat his opponents and win the Group G ticket for World Cup qualifying in 2022.
After breaking up with Ivan Jovanovic, the UAE Football Association decided to choose Jorge Luis Pinto to sit in the 'hot seat' to lead the UAE in the 2022 World Cup Qualifier which took place in October, 11/2020.
In the latest statement, coach Jorge Luis Pinto affirmed his goal is to help the UAE to win the first position in Group G and the ticket to the final round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia.
Speaking to Emirates Today, coach Luis Pinto said: "The focus of the UAEFA negotiation is that I have to help the national team to win tickets to the 2022 World Cup finals, and I have agreed with this task. It would be great if I am going back to the World Cup, so I will work with great excitement and energy. For the time being, we need to rise to the top of the table and make it to the final qualifiers.”
Currently, the top of the group G VL World Cup 2022 belongs to the Vietnamese team. Park Hang-seo's army is unbeaten with 11 points, including 3 victories and 2 draws.
The UAE is currently in 4th place with 6 points, but they play less than the remaining teams 1 match. In order to 'conquer' the top position of Vietnam, Mr. Pinto's army will have to win 3 of the remaining 4 matches.
It is possible for them to defeat Indonesia easily. But the UAE will face great difficulties when confronting Malaysia, Thailand and especially Vietnam. It was Mr. Park and Vietnam NT who defeated the West Asia team in the first leg in My Dinh stadium.
Pinto coach once led Colombia, then helped Costa Rica reach the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup. After that, the strategist once brought Honduras to the play-off match for the 2018 World Cup finals without success.
