The news of the sacking of coach Shin Tae-Yong himself recently was indeed widely discussed. If he cannot fulfill the summons, the coach could face the threat of being fired from his position even though he hasn't played any official matches with the Garuda squad.
If Shin Tae-yong was really going to be fired by PSSI, then these three European Indonesian coaches who have flashy achievements could be an alternative substitute.
So who are they?
Jos Luhukay
The first name is Jos Luhukay who is a Dutch Indonesian coach. His father is of Ambonese descent, while his mother is from the Netherlands.
His experience in coaching the team has started since 20 years ago, precisely when handling the German League's lower division team, SV Straelen.
Until now, recorded a number of large German clubs have used the services of the former assistant Jupp Heynckes. Among them are Borussia Monchengladbach, FC Augsburg, Hertha Berlin, and VFB Stuttgart.
The 56-year-old coach even managed to collect two League 2 German Bundesliga trophies with two different clubs, namely Borussia Monchengladbach (2007/08) and Hertha Berlin (2012/13).
Giovanni Van Bronckhorst
Giovanni Van Bronckhorst is the second name to replace Shin tae-yong, the former Dutch national team player has Indonesian mother who came from Maluku.
After deciding to retire in 2010, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst was believed to fill the position of head coach with the legendary Dutch club, Feyenoord. He also managed to bring Feyenoord won the Dutch League title 2016/17.
Accordingly, he was able to collect five titles while serving as a coach, including the Dutch League trophy. The other four trophies are two KNVB Cups (2015/16 and 2017/18) and two Johan Cruyff Shield (2017 and 2018).
Ricardo Moniz
Finally is Ricardo Moniz, a coach known as the mental lifter of young players. Even a number of big names of the Dutch national team such as Robin van Persie, Edgar Davids and Nigel de Jong are the result of Moniz's training.
It is known that Ricardo Moniz has Indonesian blood, originating from his mother who was born in Jakarta. While Moniz's father came from Suriname.
Throughout his career, Ricardo Moniz, who is now a free transfer after being released by SBV Excelsior Rotterdam, was able to collect three prestigious trophies at the European level, namely the Austrian Premiership title (2011/12), the Austrian League Cup (2011/12), and the Hungarian League Cup (2012 / 13).
