Indonesia coach will study Vietnam to learn how to defeat Thailand
Indonesia’s coach Simon McMenemy says he will study Vietnam’s performance thoroughly to learn how to beat Thailand his team’s upcoming World Cup 2022 qualifier.
Indonesia will take on Thailand on Tuesday after a disappointing defeat to Malaysia last week.
“It is not easy to beat Thailand but we have reasons to believe we can win. Thailand needs to improve a lot in their tactical system and collaboration between players. Coach Nishino is a newcomer and there’s much for him to do,” McMenemy told reporters.
The British-born coach noted that the Indonesian footballers playing in the Thai League will give him some useful information about the Thai team.
But McMenemy cautioned, “Nishino could change Thailand’s current strategy. We are analyzing all possibilities in order to defeat them.”
He said he replayed the Vietnam-Thailand match last week to work out the best strategy.
“Thailand has many talented players, especially Chanathip and Supachok. They stole the show in the 0-0 draw with Vietnam. We will find a way to beat Thailand by studying that game.”
