Cong Phuong: It’s all about my performance
Vietnamese forward Nguyen Cong Phuong said it’s his performance that matters, not who the Indonesian defenders are.
Cong Phuong comment followed the addition of Brazilian-born defender Otavio Dutra to the Indonesian squad just a few days ahead of their World Cup 2022 qualifier in Bali.
Otavio is tall and physically strong, and is known for his aerial duels won.
“It is not about which defenders they will use. If I play well, things will be fine. My goal is to be included in the starting lineup and do my best,” said Phuong.
“Victory is Vietnam’s ultimate goal in every match. I want to thank all the fans for supporting the national team. Keep your faith in us!” Phuong added.
He said Tuesday’s away match will be a bit challenging for the Vietnamese players, who had to travel a long way to Indonesia.
“But when we are on the field, we all aim for a win. The coaching team thoroughly analyzed Indonesia’s strengths and weaknesses,” Phuong said.
The Indonesia-Vietnam match will kick off at 6:30 p.m at Captain I Wayan Dipta stadium.
