Seizing a victory over archrival Thailand, Vietnam NT moves up one place on FIFA rankings and has gained an advantage in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers race.
The kick-off match of King’s Cup 2019 witnessed a brilliant performance of Vietnam NT who played confidently and pipped 1-0 to Thailand regardless of huge pressures from ‘the War Elephants’.
Park Hang-seo’s side is keeping their head up into the final of King’s Cup 2019 to battle Curacao. Meanwhile, Thailand NT is set to fight for the 3rd place against India.
A gutsy away win at Chang Arena stadium gave Vietnam 4.5 points and raise up their total point into 1231 which helps Park Hang-seo’s side leave Jodan behind 2 points. ‘Golden Dragons’ temporally escalates into 97th place of the world and 15th place of Asia.
If playing well against Curacao and holding on the ranking on Asia table, Vietnam NT will be drawn into Group 2 in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers with Syria, Uzbekistan, Lebanon, and Oman, getting the side stay away from the strongest contenders pooling together in the group.
Based on 2022 World Cup Qualifiers fixture, Vietnam NT coached by Park Hang-seo is set to join the Asia zonal of 2022 World Cup Qualifiers from Qualification round 2 with 6 matches in 2019 and 4 in 2020.
