Vietnam takes back its place on FIFA rankings
By the bad run of Trinidad and Tobago in CONCACAF Gold Cup 2019, Vietnam claimed 96th on FIFA rankings after 2 days falling down.
Vietnam national team was unexpectedly dropped to 97th in the World in 26 and 27 June. This comes from the historical achievements of Haiti, when they won all three matches of 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage, thereby advancing from 101 to 90 in the world.
However, 'Golden Dragon' return to 96th in FIFA rankings. Because another team at CONCACAF, Trinidad & Tobago (TRI), played very badly in the regional tournament, losing 8 places in the FIFA table.
According to Football Ranking, Trinidad & Tobago ended CONCACAF Gold Cup 2019 with 2 losses, 1 draw and were eliminated from the group stage. They were deducted 15.43 points after Panama’s 2-0 victory, then continued to be deducted 9.58 points after being destroyed by the US 0-6. They ended the tournament with a 1-1 draw to Guyana and 8.88 points deducted.
Trinidad & Tobago ranking 92 in June with 1260 points, minus 33.9 points to 1226.1 points, thereby dropping to 100th in the world. This helps Vietnam to return to the 96th. This is the highest ranking of Vietnam in the FIFA table for the past 20 years, in which previously they stood at 84th place in 1998.
Thailand has also promoted 1 level to 115th in the world. The promotion of 'Changsuek' comes from Namibia's weak performance (NAM) at CAN 2019, causing them to drop 4 places from 113 to 117.
Vietnam national team continues to maintain 15th in Asia. Therefore, the coach Park’s side is still in the No. 2 seed group at the 2022 World Cup qualifier in Asia, taking place on July 17 in Malaysia.
Being able to stay in the No. 2 seed group helps Coach Park Hang Seo and his men avoid many strong opponents such as Iraq (77), Uzbekistan (82), Syria (85) ... Those are the advantages that can help Vietnam first reached the final qualifier at a World Cup.
