Why did Quang Hai start slowly in the V.League 2020?
Quang Hai, who has not scored in the V.League, could be the usual pent up for the impressive return of the Vietnam Silver Ball in the next period.
The last time Quang Hai scored for Hanoi Club was in the match against Viettel on September 19 last year. Since then, he has not had a goal for Hanoi FC. Particularly in the 2020 season, Quang Hai scored no goal in 6 matches in V.League, National Super Cup and National Cup.
That performance raises concerns among fans.
However, this is not the first time in his career that Quang Hai has shown a slow start in the domestic playing field.
In the 2018 season, immediately after the feat of Changzhou with U23 Vietnam, Quang Hai also needed 9 games to score 2 goals. But when he made a good start, he hit the opponent net 7 times in the remaining 15 games of the season. Same result happened in 2019. Quang Hai scored 2 goals in the first 15 matches before exploding violently with 6 goals in the last 9 matches. That was also the year he won the V.League Player of the Year.
Quang Hai himself is not the type of player who can shine continuously in the long run. For him, the first stage of the season is usually the time to regain energy after stressfull tournaments. In the last three years, Quang Hai has been exhausted during the year-end period. In 2018, he continuously attended the M-150 Cup and U23 tournament. In the 2019 season, he played the AFF Cup and the Asian Cup right before the V.League.
Dense competition makes Quang Hai need the break. That's why we haven't seen the best number 19 in the first leg of the V.League in recent seasons. In return, Quang Hai shows his best in the second leg.
Vu Quang Huy said: “We do not need to worry too much about the player's performance. Some people can contribute with better performance, but just need to play that way to avoid injury. There are players who will play better, but they are holding back to consider the long way.”
Also by constantly appearance, Quang Hai often gets injured at the beginning of the season. Last year, he suffered from pain before the AFC U23 Championship 2020 qualifier, he was almost absent in two matches against Indonesia and Thailand in March. This year, he was muscle tension and will quit the SLNA match on June 19.
Unlike 2 years ago, Quang Hai is now the biggest star of Vietnam, the best midfielder in V.League. Status and talent make him always receive great attention from opponents. That is an obstacle for Quang Hai on both domestic and international fronts.
>>> Quang Hai suffered an injury again during a training session in Hanoi
After a 1-1 draw with the Hanoi club, Ha Tinh coach Pham Minh revealed that he had taken many measures to prevent Quang Hai from a long shot and score.
The density of competition is high, the trauma plus the caution from the opponent, it is easy to understand why Quang Hai has not been able to shine as expected.
