Thailand women football team crash out of Olympic Tokyo after the defeat to China
The defeat against the Chinese women's team also caused Thai players to return home without a ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Being forced to defeat China to advance to the next round, yet the Thai women suffered a disastrous defeat.
The Thai women's team quickly felt the strength of one of the strongest women's football teams in Asia when they conceded a goal in the 6th minute of the match. With a clever handling phase in the penalty area, Li Ying had a dangerous shot to defeat Sornpao goalkeeper. Only 5 minutes later, Zhang Xin continued to double the gap from a perfect finish.
The Thai women's team had conceded 4 goals in the first half and the remaining two goals of the Chinese women's team were attributed to Wang Shanshan (41 ') and Tang Jiali (45').
Thailand's nightmare has not stopped there. Despite actively reducing the tempo of the match and withdrawing key players, the Chinese women's team still proved too superior to the opponent. Tang Jiali and Li Ying completed their own brace after goals in the 51st and 66th minutes.
It wasn't until the 80th minute of the game that Silawan Intamee took advantage of the opportunity to score an honorary goal for the home team. But it was still too late. Thai women's team had to accept defeat with the score 1-6.
This result made the Thai women stumbled in the bottom of Group B of the Tokyo 2020 Women's Olympic.
