Thailand faces challenges ahead of the match with Indonesia
Thailand has yet to find a way for the four pillars currently playing in the J-League to return to play against Indonesia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Health of Thailand has set out regulations that people traveling to or working in countries such as South Korea, China, Japan, and Singapore will be quarantined for 14 days if they return to Thailand to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus.
This has caused Thailand to face the absence of four pillars playing in the J-League, Chanathip Songkrasin, Theerathon, Teerasil Dangda and Kawin in the home match against visiting Indonesia.
This will be a huge loss for Akira Nishino's side in the goal of passing Group G in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Asia. They are currently 3rd with 8 points after 5 matches and 3 points behind the top team. That's why Japanese strategic teachers and students are forced to win the upcoming match against Indonesia.
The Thai Football Federation until now has no solution to solve the problem. Recently, FAT chairman Mr. Soomyout Poompanmoung spoke out about this incident:
"Up to now, I have not worked with the federation members on this issue. Actually, we still do not know how to do it. If the players return as scheduled. At first, they will definitely not be able to attend with the team. Regarding this, the Thai Football Federation will re-evaluate the situation and discuss to work out the optimal plan. Once there is a conclusion, we will inform the fans ".
If this really happens, this will be a huge loss for Thailand in the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifier. Chanathip Songkrasin, Teerasil Dangda or Theerathon are all almost irreplaceable players in the "War Elephants" squad. Without these names, that Thailand might lose 50% of its power.
The match between Thailand vs Indonesia will take place on March 26 at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. To best prepare for this confrontation, coach Akira Nishino and his players will meet on March 19.
