Speaking after the 5-0 win over Bahrain, Akira Nishino warns his players about the disqualification.
In the opening match of AFC U23 Championship 2020, U23 Thailand encounted Bahrain which they brought back a glorious win.
Akira Nishino stated that Thailand played overwhelmingly against Bahrain yet he still warns his players about the next matches.
“We afforted to played attacking right from the beginning in order to get early goals. It was successful and helped Thailand more comfortable. In the second half, we played with high concentration and maintain the domination and win massively.
I always tell my players that don’t be afraid of their opponents, try to control the game and attack. There were some doubts but Thailand played really well. Thailand could be disqualified theoratically, but we had a real fight.”
The 5-0 win over Bahrain helped Nishino take top spot in group A. U23 Thailand needs to win 1 more victory in the remaining 2 matches to secure a slot to the next round.
U23 Thailand will face U23 Australia (January 11) and U23 Iraq (January 14). These two teams are very strong, so the chance of 'War Elephants' losing and being eliminated is still high.
