Hanoi FC coach Chu Dinh Nghiem: 'I used to quit because of the heavy pressure'
In recent sharing, coach Chu Dinh Nghiem said he used to want to stop work in Hanoi because of stress and pressure.
Leading Hanoi club, a team with all stars and exorbitant goals is always the desire and pressure of any coach. Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem has achieved many accomplishments with the capital team after 4 years.
"My work is very pressure, from the leadership, the public, the media. I'm leading a strong club, the task is to win, to win is to win beautifully. So most of the time I have to concentrate all the time, I feel tired so I want to stop to recharge," Chu Dinh Nghiem shared he wanted to step down before season 2020.
The 2019 season is probably the busiest year for coach Chu Dinh Nghiem. Hanoi has to compete on 3 tournament including the National Cup, V-League and AFC Cup. Every tournament has the highest goal, but the density was throughout, the list of injured players is long.
"The 2019 season made me exhausted, every day was stressful, matches after games, from AFC Cup, V.League to National Cup. And the coach is responsible for all, I want to stop to relieve but then the work forced us to move on. I shared this in North Korea, before the final of the AFC Cup 2019 inter-regional tournament and the club leaders wanted me to continue. "
Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem also reaffirmed that he wants to quit not to start in another team, but to balance his life.
Many people say that coach Chu Dinh Nghiem is lucky when Hanoi has a good quality of players, so whoever leads, Hanoi will still crown champions. Upon hearing this view, Mr. Nghiem countered. He pointed out that the time to lead Hanoi was 2016 when the team was ranked last after the failed series of coach Pham Minh Duc.
At that time, Quang Hai, Hung Dung, Van Kien and Duy Manh did not have fame. So he did not care about those ideas. Leader and players know best about those successes.
Another notable part of Mr. Nghiem's interview is the issue of using foreign soldiers. For him, foreign soldiers contribute only 30% of the team power. The policy of Hanoi is that foreign soldiers have to follow in the style of the whole team. Of course foreign soldiers help improve the strength but not the prerequisite for the team to lean on.
