HAGL president regrets eliminating Bui Tien Dung?

Center-back Bui Tien Dung is the leader of Viettel Club, one of the most important factors in the Vietnamese team's defense.

Bui Tien Dung not only has an impressive height but also makes opponents surprised in the airial ball  situations. Growing up in the military environment, it is not difficult to understand when Tien Dung's gameplay is full of strength, determination and especially discipline.

However, a story revealed by Bui Tien Dung was that a dozen years ago, Viettel's captain had traveled a long way to apply for the HAGL Arsenal JMG Academy, but he crashed out. Some of the strict admission criteria are not met.

Bui Tien Dung said that his feeling at that time was only a little sad because the admission criteria were very strict, hundreds, thousands of people were not accepted.

Then, at the age of 13, Bui Tien Dung passed the entrance exam into football training course in Military Zone 4 (Nghe An). But only 6 months later, the team dissolved, Dung returned home, continue to play for the Duc Tho’s youth team.

In 2009, Viettel Football Center (Hanoi) came and recruited players, Dung immediately applied and won a place in the prestigious training academy, the predecessor of the current Viettel Club.

In 2015, HAGL borrowed center-back Bui Tien Dung from Viettel. His excellent performance almost convinced HAGL president Doan Nguyen Duc to keep in the team. To lose the precious gem Bui Tien Dung, certainly Mr. Duc and HAGL must feel extremely regretful.

He returned to Viettel after the 2016 season and gradually affirmed the excellence of one of the leading defenders in Vietnam.​
