HAGL president has made an official decision to let Nguyen Cong Phuong continue to play for the Ho Chi Minh City Club.
At the beginning of the 2020 V.League season, Ho Chi Minh FC made a surprise to buy Nguyen Cong Phuong from Sint Truiden and brought Nghe An-born striker to Vietnam.
Under the contract, Cong Phuong will play for Ho Chi Minh City until June 2020. However, due to the outbreak of Covid-19, Vietnamese football was halted for a long time, so the HCMC club wanted to continue borrowing HAGL's striker until the end of the season.
President Nguyen Huu Thang confirmed that the HCMC Club is about to negotiate with HAGL on the future of Cong Phuong. However, HAGL president Doan Nguyen Duc has just confirmed that he does not need to negotiate, he agreed to let the striker to stay at the Thong Nhat Stadium.
Mr. Duc shared: "There is nothing like negotiation. Both sides have goodwill, that is more important. It is important that Ho Chi Minh City helps Cong Phuong find joy in both inside and outside the pitch. Phuong feels happy here and plays regularly, I will let him stay, until the end of the season," Thanh Nien quoted.
Staying at the Ho Chi Minh City Club, Cong Phuong continues to earn a record salary at V.League up to 120 million / month. This is the income that helps ‘Vietnamese Messi' can afford to live with family in the near future.
