Former Vietnam center-back: 'If I didn't play football, I would be a motorbike driver’
Former Vietnam central defender Le Phuoc Tu recently shared his professional playing time.
At the peak of his career, Le Phuoc Tu is one of the best central defenders of Vietnamese football. He and Vu Nhu Thanh formed a very solid duo, contributing greatly to the 2008 AFF Cup championship of Vietnam.
But few people know that, to get to football, Le Phuoc Tu had to go through a lot of difficulties.
“After 12 years of playing professionally, I have nothing to regret. A lot of people often say that the football world is unrewarding, but I feel very lucky, because if I didn't play football, I would have to drive … motorbike taxi. Football has given me a lot of things and I have to thank for that,” center-back shared.
Unlike Vu Nhu Thanh, teammate in Vietnam, Le Phuoc Tu lives a simple life and rarely appears in the newspapers, although his talent is not inferior. Since his retirement, Phuoc Tu has almost disappeared, but in fact he is still attached to the ball when he transferred to training at the PVF youth training academy in late 2016.
After that, he went to Pho Hien Club to be the assistant to coach Hua Hien Vinh to play in the First Division. For Phuoc Tu, this can be considered as luck in his life.
“I am very fortunate to have just broken up as a footballer and have continued to stick with my passion. Training a lot of children is surprising but fun, because I like to relive the new days to football.
Now, when I am working as an assistant for Hua Hien Vinh in Pho Hien, I have gained more experience in running and planning a team to attend the season. So much to learn. "
Reportedly, Le Phuoc Tu still looks forward to one day re-appearing in the highest playground of Vietnamese football. He is now determined to help Pho Hien win tickets for the V.League next season.
