We want to achieve the level of the top Asian team, not just in Southeast Asia. My goal is to reach a high level, to be able to play in Japan and South Korea. "
Being a goalkeeper who was trained in European football environment, but when he returned to Vietnam, Dang Van Lam also struggled to find opportunities at V-League.
The turning point came with Van Lam when signing a contract with Hai Phong Club. At the port team, he quickly promoted the talent of a goalie trained in Europe and became a reliable deterrent of Hai Phong Club and was summoned to Vietnam.
Dang Van Lam quickly became the number 1 goalkeeper in Vietnam. He contributed greatly to the AFF Cup championship of Vietnam in 2020 after 10 years of waiting. Not stopping there, the excellent performance at the ASIAN Cup 2019 also helped Van Lam reach the sights of big teams in the region and the continent.
Currently, Dang Van Lam is playing for Muangthong United, a team with a rich and long history in Thailand. He hopes to have the opportunity to play in the AFC Champions League in the near future: "It would be great to attend the AFC Champions League and confront the best clubs in Asia".
