OFFICIAL: Hanoi FC crash out of AFC Cup 2020
Hanoi FC failed to complain to AFC and will lose its slot in AFC Cup 2020, giving way for Ho Chi Minh City FC.
Hanoi FC will lose its slot in the AFC Cup 2020 for failing to meet AFC regulations, Saostar cited the Vietnam Football Federation’s response to the club’s petition.
Hanoi could not meet AFC club licensing regulations, which is required to take part in AFC continental club competitions — the AFC Cup and the AFC Champions League.
AFC Cup Club Licensing regulations state that any clubs “must have at least two youth teams within the age range of U15 and U18” in order to be eligible to acquire the license.
V-League runner-up Ho Chi Minh City FC, thereby, will represent Vietnam at the AFC Cup 2020. President Nguyen Huu Thang said that his club is ready for the competition.
Ho Chi Minh City FC finished second in the V-League 2019, with a reward of nearly 65,000 USD from the organizers. They will play defending champs Hanoi FC in the semis of the National Cup on Oct 27.
